“Attached are photos of our adopted Christmas Tree, fully dECOrated!! We hosted our own contest here at the Port in order to decorate the tree. We asked all employees to hang ornaments they made themselves from re-purposed or recycled materials. They got bonus points it the ornaments could be recycled after the holidays. We received nearly 30 submissions, with ornaments made from things such as aluminum cans, paper from the recycle bin, old bike sprockets, corks, etc. Photos of a few examples are also attached. The lights on the tree are LED lights, and the angel topper is made also by hand from materials found at home and incorporates the LED lights.
Our adopted tree really inspired a tremendous amount of environmental awareness and opportunity for education this holiday season, in addition to tons of cheer!
Thank you,
Cody

12/01/2009: Participate in Adopt-a-Christmas-Tree’s first annual living Christmas Tree dECOrating contest!
This season, for the first time, Adopt-a Christmas-Tree is holding an environmentally friendly tree decorating contest. The winning tree will be one purchased from Adopt-a-Christmas-Tree that has been decorated with an ecologically responsible theme. For instance, LED lights instead of regular, or even a tree decorated with “green” ornaments. Let your imagination run wild! To submit your order, take a picture of your finished tree and email it to contest@adoptachristmastree.com along with name, address, and phone number. Also, if possible, describe what you used to decorate your tree and let us know how sustainable the decorations are. The submission selected as grand prize winner will receive a free tree of their choice for the following year.
Here are a few of the submissions we’ve received so far:
